There's still hope!! (Miss Jessie's Products)

Okay guys...so for the past year...I have been really struggling with my hair. It has grown so fast...that I have lost control of it! It is so soft and curly, that it won't stay in and style for longer than two days (and that's on a good day).

Some of my issues are:
  1. I need some type of moisturizer for my curls....to keep them from getting dry!
  2. I need something that I can style my hair with everyday...that is not too heavy
  3. I need a product that is gonna detangle my hair!
About a month ago I ran into some products from "Miss Jessies" and from what the reviews says...it really works. So next month I will be trying these products...

  1. Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding
  2. Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme
  3. Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue
As soon as I use them I will let you know how they work!!!

I've Decided....

Okay so after some loooonggg discussions with my family and with myself, I have decided not to get sisterlocks...here are my reasons:

1. Cost- it is very expensive to the installment. I have A LOT of hair and I know that it would cost me at least a grand to get them. Not only is the installment a pretty penny, but the upkeep would be too! at least for the first year...until I decided to do them myself...

2. Maintenance-while I think that they are BEAUTIFUL, I know that I wouldn't upkeep them on my own like I should...I sometimes get lazy and I wouldn't want my hair to suffer because of it.

3. Boredom- this is why many of my friends and family say that it wouldn't work for me! I get bored with my hair easily, and like to change it every so often...and let's just say that I would be very upset to spend all of my time and money on a hairstyle that I would be bored with. Also I have seen other people's blogs...after about 5-8 yrs...they cut them off or make them into traditional locks...

4. I love my curls- yes I have been at a crossroads with my hair...because over the past 3 years...It has grown so fast I don't know how to deal with it...BUT I absolutely love my curls...they have their own personality...and I love wearing my hair out.

I love sisterlocks...and think that they are beautiful!!!!!!!! But they aren't made for everybody...and right now I know that they aren't made for me!

Updates....

Okay...so I haven't been updating my blog site...its just been very hectic time for me!!! But I promise that I will update more this year!!!

SISTERLOCKS

Okay so I still want them...sooo bad. I have been talking myself in and out of getting them for a year. I have so much hair, and right now I just keep it braided. I didn't think I could afford them (being that I am a college student and all...) so I decided in Dec to just train my hair to go straight. It was BEAUTIFUL...but I wasn't happy. I felt like I had been through too much with my hair to go back to the straight look. Don't get me wrong...I'm not knocking it...its just not for me anymore.

So I am now looking for someone in VA (particularly in the Richmond or Hampton Roads area) who does sisterlocks. If anyone knows of anybody!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!

I have been natural for almost 2 and a half years...it has seemed like a such a long time. But I know that there are some more things that I need to learn. The more I will learn, the more I will share with you all...that is what Knew Growth is all about right?? lol

Another Angel has Recieved Her Wings

On Feb 2, 2010 I found out some devastating news...One of my best childhood friends was stabbed to death by her boyfriend. She was only 25.

Although I haven't spoken to her in a number of years...I have always considered her as a sister. When we were growing up, we were inseparable. She was a firecracker! Full of life. What I admire most about her is that she was different...and she wasn't afraid to be different.

I know that God has a plan for all of us... and we should never question His will...when it is our time to go...then its our time. But Lord knows that we miss her here.

I just ask everyone to pray for her family and friends...especially her two babies she left behind!!

I am thinking of starting a scholarship fund in honor of her...and also having a domestic violence forum for my mentoring program. As women we need to teach our girls about relationships, and especially UNHEALTHY relationships!!! It's time for us to end this epidemic!!!!

Danielle, I love you and I wish that I could have spent more time with you when we got older!! Our different paths separated us...but you will always be my sister!! I miss you!! R.I.P....Until we meet again...
